Although it is not illegal to live trap moles, it is illegal (and cruel) to release them if their survival cannot be guaranteed. As moles live a solitary life in fiercely protected territories, releasing a mole in the vicinity of another mole will result in death or injury to one or both moles.
Traditional trapping remains the best solution to mole infestation.
